Vibrating Seats for Safety?

According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the 2014 GMC Sierra will have a safety option that includes a vibrating seat. Yes, a vibrating seat. How does this relate to safety? Well, imagine if you got distracted by a flashy billboard or beautiful sunset, causing you to drift into another lane. As you drift, your seat would vibrate to notify you of the danger and you would hopefully veer back into your lane. Using cameras, the GMC truck would also be able to spot how close you are to other drivers and vibrate your seat if things get dangerously close.

This may sound silly, but it’s actually an interesting concept. Considering that statistically, it’s safer to drive with others than alone, this new feature could help serve as wingman when you get distracted. The quote from GM mentions the feature being that “passenger” to warn you when you are veering off or about to hit another vehicle. The drawback to this strategy is that if it doesn’t function accurately or it malfunctions, you could be driving around with your seat vibrating all day…which would be annoying and potentially hazardous your health. Let’s wait and see what GM releases, but for now, will remain cautiously optimistic.

TOYO TIRES RENEWS UFC SPONSORSHIP FOR 2013

The agreement marks the sixth year that Toyo Tires will sponsor the fastest growing sports organization in the world. The partnership provides Toyo Tires with exposure across UFC’s unrivaled platforms and includes an extended presence inside the Octagon during live events, which are broadcast to more than 800 million households worldwide.

Toyo Tires will also continue to reach UFC fans through experiential marketing activities such as having a presence at UFC tailgate parties and autograph signings. The big rig display is expected to make several appearances during 2013 including UFC Fan Expo and Fight Week, scheduled for July.

Toyo Tires also leverages its relationship with the UFC through athlete autograph signings and meet and greets with fans. The Toyo Tires booth at the 2012 SEMA Show featured three days of autograph signings and appearances by over 10 UFC superstars. So many manufacturers of tires, wheels, lifts and other aftermarket components for lifted trucks don’t support the activities of those who own big trucks. GreenArmy Motorsports Debut Pro-2 Trophy Truck Team at NDRA South Point Vegas 250

Race teams are formed from a myriad of different circumstances. Some teams are formed when a group of racing buddies decide to take their Saturday tradition to the next level. Others teams are formed when an amateur racer decide it’s time for their shot at the big money lime light. Team GreenArmy Motorsports however, was formed when recognized race champion Kevin Davis decided to step out of the driver seat to put his son Justin behind the wheel.

“I have been around an off-road vehicle for as long as I can remember. My dad started racing before I was born.” Justin explained. “When I was able to race at fourteen, I raced with my sister Ashley in a 1600 car. Since then, I’ve kept moving up in cars and classes, and now I’m at the top, in a Jimco Trophy Truck.”

Before he started outperforming his Trophy Truck competitors in the LOORS Pro-2 division, Justin competed in MDR, Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series, Best in the Desert, SCORE International and HDRA. His hard work lead to winning the 2010 SCORE Lites Championship, 2011 SCORE Class One Championship, becoming the youngest driver to win a Class One Championship back-to-back in the Baja 1000, and at age 18, becoming the youngest driver to win the Baja 1000 as a solo Trophy Truck driver.

“Using K&N products allows us the capability to enhance our Trophy Truck and run at a level that we need to be at, to compete with other top racers in the field,” Justin tells us. “I got involved with K&N by using their products through the years.” His trust in K&N was developed from experience with the product over the years.

Justin Davis, new team member Kyle LeDuc, and GreenArmy Motorsports packed up their Pro-2 Trophy Truck, and traveled to Jean, Nevada, for the NDRA South Point Vegas 250. The team was excited to debut their new Trophy Truck team for the 2013 HDRA and SCORE International Series. Justin started the race in seventh position, but half way through the race, he passed the wheel to Kyle, who skillfully drove the GreenArmy Motorsports Trophy Truck to a fourth place finish.
